Carolyn brings 13 years of experience as a trainer plus dual degrees in Sports Medicine & Behavioral Psychology from Willamette University to Stafford Hills Club. Her experience began while working with Physical & Occupational Therapy and Behavior Modification Therapy patients, specifically those with traumatic brain injury & children with developmental and behavioral disorders.
Using her experience as a Track & Field Athlete, Carolyn has more than 10 years of combined coaching experience in gymnastics & pole vaulting. She has also successfully coached and created training programs for many body building, figure & physique competitors.
Carolyn’s personal training style isn’t just taking someone through a work-out… it is an all encompassing program to help someone achieve a healthier body and mind-set, together… one habit change at a time.

Fitness professional Billy Boynton brings a very functional training style to Stafford Hills that will help your body move better and enhance quality of life. He is a Certified Personal Trainer through American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and a Body Training Systems Certified Group Exercise Instructor. Billy prescribes exercises that correct dysfunctional movement patterns, addresses strength imbalances, and builds core strength and coordination. He believes that a well-balanced fitness program should challenge you physically while leaving you mentally refreshed.
As a parent, Billy understands the importance of making health & fitness a priority and way of life. Billy originally got into the fitness industry to help people live a life free of injury and disease, and has an exciting and energetic passion for helping people reach their fitness goals. As a fitness professional, Heather understands the importance of making workouts fun! Having taught Group Exercise since 2012, she felt that Personal Training was a great next step to help her clients continue to grow and to be able to work with them one on one. Heather’s personalized and client specific approach to training allows the client to reach their goals, while utilizing equipment and exercises that they enjoy.
Heather’s focus on effective and proper movement, makes her a great choice for individuals just starting out, those looking to build strength and endurance, or individuals who crave more variety in their workouts.
Rachel brings over 25 years of experience in body movement to the Stafford Hills Club. Trained originally as a dancer Rachel has studied all styles of dance with an emphasis in modern and classical ballet . After the birth of her third child she began to take yoga classes and instantly fell in love. She entered the Yoga Teacher Training Program at Scottsdale Community College for a yearlong intensive study of the art of teaching Iyengar Style Yoga. The program focused extensively on proper alignment, detailed instruction, anatomy, yoga philosophy, and yoga therapeutics. She feels very fortunate to have been part of such a wonderful teacher-training program. Rachel has been teaching yoga to all ages and levels since 2006, and specializes in truly teaching the art of traditional yoga so that her students understand each pose in a way that increases body awareness, strength and flexibility for improved movement in any capacity.
Besides her love of yoga, Rachel also loves her family. With three children, a husband and a dog she keeps pretty busy. She loves being outside, the healing arts, nutrition and people. Rachel also loves to travel and was able to spend a month in Bangalore, India with her family where she studied yoga and was able to meet B.K.S. Iyengar in person (one thing off her bucket list!).
Rachel would love to answer any questions you may have for her about yoga and the Iyengar style. She is also available to teach private and semi-private classes.
Marisa Michael, Fitness Instructor
Marisa is a registered dietitian, certified personal trainer, and group exercise instructor. She loves the energy that comes from teaching group exercise classes and has a passion for helping people achieve fitness and wellness.
She has completed several triathlons and open water swimming events. Her certifications include International Olympic Committee’s Diploma in Sports Nutrition, Certificate of Training in Weight Management, and multiple group exercise certifications. She is the author of Bike Shorts: Your Complete Guide to Indoor Cycling and owns a private dietetic practice in West Linn.
Yenitzia Davila was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She started taking ballet classes at a young age of 5 years old. Yenitzia danced professional ballet for over 10 years at one the most prestigious academy in San Juan, PR. While performing as a ballet dancer, she engaged into her professional career path obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Finance. Yenitzia moved to Oregon in 2001 leaving her career to a side to start a family. Having 3 kids was not a reason to stop what she does best, which is dancing Latin music. Ten years later, Yenitzia started to attend Zumba classes in nearby Health Fitness clubs growing her interest into this amazing and energetic fitness class. In 2012, Yenitzia became a certified Zumba instructor. Now as a Zumba instructor, her focus is to share her passion for music and show respect to her Latin heritage. Zumba has given her a great opportunity to do what she loves: “Teach people new rhythms from different cultures while helping them stay energetic and healthy”.
At this time Cindy is working towards her 1000 hr Master Teacher training in Yoga Medicine with Tiffany Cruikshank. She finished her 500 hr Yoga Therapy Teacher training with Sarahjoy Marsh and is almost finished with her Accreditation with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Her 200 hr yoga teacher training was with Tiffany Cruikshank.
Her first yoga class was at the age of twelve and Ardha Matsyendrasana has been part of her daily practice ever since. She began seriously studying yoga in 1999, practicing in Ashtanga, Anasura, Bikram, Hatha, Power Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin, and Yoga Therapy.
Cindy is trained in Kiatsu, a Japanese form of energy work. Kiatsu has helped her read body language and understand the mental and physical challenges in body movement.
Cindy loves yoga, guiding her students to overcome challenges, and she enjoys sharing yoga with the community.

Group Fitness Instructor, Melanie Moreland brings to Stafford Hills Athletic Club a Functional Training style and passion to help inspire others to move their bodies to become stronger for everyday life activities. As a parent and an EMT/Paramedic, Melanie understands the importance of making movement of the body a priority to connect through the heart and mind. Melanie grew up dancing and continues that passion to share with others through the fitness industry. Melanie did her training with Aerobic Excell, Johny G. Spinning, and Reebok Revolution to name a few. Learning and improving to understand body mechanics is neverending! Melanie believes she learns more from teaching, and the inspiration she receives from the members than any specific training!
Jane Loverin, Fitness Instructor, Aquatic Instructor
Jane Loverin is a certified Fitness Specialist who teaches both land and water exercise. She is certified through the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) and YMCA. She is a Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard through the American Red Cross. Jane has been teaching classes for over 20 years and has experience working with youth and adults in a variety of settings. She currently teaches at Stafford Hills and Portland Community College (Part-time Faculty) in fitness and aquatics.
Jane has coached and taught classes at the High School level, Masters Swimming, Age Group Swim Teams, YMCA health and fitness schools, college and for the YMCA of the USA. She holds a Masters degree in Teaching from Portland State University and a Bachelors degree in Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance from Pacific Lutheran University. Jane taught High School at Jefferson High School and was a director at the YMCA.
Jane enjoys teaching at Stafford Hills because the people are wonderful and the facilities are awesome. She is married and has two children, Ben 17 and Jackie 11. Jane loves to help others learn new skills and improve their fitness level, and looks forward to meeting you!
Kristine Cox, Master’s Swim Instructor, Youth Swim Coach
Coach Kristine began swimming at the age of 6 and swam competitively through college. She is Oregon born and bred and spent the majority of her youth competing on a local club team. She was a district champion in high school and received All-American honors swimming at Whitworth University in Spokane and Willamette University in Salem. In recent years, Kristine received her AFAA certification. She is an avid runner and proud mother of two young boys.

Coach Mike helps swimmers of all levels improve their strokes, starts and turns and better their times through individual training sessions and clinics. He began his swimming career at the age of 8 and has been swimming ever since.He was a high school All American and swam for the National Champion University of Texas Men’s Team. Since moving to Oregon in 2008, has set 15 state records & has Top Ten National Rankings in over 25 events as a masters swimmer.
Mike is also an accomplished triathlete, open water swimmer and mountain biker and coached on the master’s level for 4 years in Dallas, Texas.

Mandy Gasperson, Barre Instructor
Mandy Gasperson has always made fitness, health, and nutrition an integral part of her life. While attending the University of San Diego where she earned a bachelors degree in Biology Mandy also worked as a NASN certified sports nutritionist, Ultrafit consultant/group exercise instructor, a research analyst studying metabolic rates of local athletes, and cheered for the San Diego Chargers. Also an avid runner Mandy has participated in many competitive races where she most recently placed 1st in the female run division at the Blue Lake Triathlon and Duathlon event. Mandy is also a runner on a competitive all female Hood to Coast team. Through her experience in the industry of sports and fitness she has continued to grow and is eager to share her passion. Committed to helping others Mandy currently works as a registered nurse case manager at Moda Health Inc.
Kelly Haller, Yoga Instructor
Kelly began practicing yoga in 2000 while studying at UC Santa Barbara. Over the years, she explored and studied many styles of yoga. In 2008, she received her 200-hour certification from Ganga White at White Lotus. Since 2008, she has taught vinyasa, gentle vinyasa, and prenatal yoga. She continues her studies of yoga with regular practice and taking teacher training workshops several times a year. Her classes focus on anatomy and physiology. They are supportive, slow and steady, and surprisingly challenging, yet gentle.
Brenda Carlson, Cardio Groove Instructor
Brenda took my first dance class in high school. As someone who had always been chosen last for sports, she quickly fell in love with the process of learning how to make movement to music work in a non-competitive environment. She has been teaching group exercise classes since 2012. Once again, she saw the beauty of dance, this time in a fitness environment. Everyone can feel successful! Those that have years of dance training, to those who have never stepped into a dance studio. There is an opportunity to move, improve and feel successful for all body types, backgrounds and ages.
Alyssa Grant, Yoga Instructor
Alyssa has been teaching adults & youth since 2007 including yoga, group fitness, health education and Spanish/English language classes. She grew up in California/Oregon and was active in tennis and volleyball. She has always been passionate about holistic wellness, language and traveling. Alyssa has been living on and off in Guatemala since 2010 teaching nutrition/cooking, training health promoters and collaborating in rural community development projects. She has taken Yoga & Meditation Training immersions in Oregon, Thailand, Mexico and Guatemala. In 2013, I created a bilingual yoga and wellness organization called Habla Yoga that offers accessible classes and events for families both locally and internationally. I work part-time in public libraries and have a profound love for reading, writing, and poetry.
Wendi Arant, Cycle & Strength Instructor
Wendi has been teaching fitness classes since 1997 and has a passion for helping people of all fitness levels to stay motivated and push themselves to reach their goals. Aside from teaching fitness classes, she has taught and coached dance team for the past several years, and is currently the head dance team coach at Clackamas High School. When not teaching, coaching or running, she loves to spend time with her boyfriend and all of their kiddos.
Lauren Lundberg, Kids Yoga Instructor
At age 16 Lauren graduated from her 200-hour yoga teacher training program and became one of the youngest certified yoga instructors in the country. Lauren has been surrounded by yoga all her life, as her mom is a yoga teacher as well. She loves the feeling she gets from doing yoga, and working with kids, teens and adults.
Colleen Corry, Yoga Instructor
Colleen became a serious yogi in her 40’s when she began studying and practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, a method of yoga synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures. Upon joining Stafford Hills in 2012, she began the practice and study of alignment yoga based on BKS Iyengar’s methodology and in June of 2015 she received her 200-hour teacher training certification. She enjoys sharing her love of yoga by teaching beginning and restorative yoga in her home and continues to study and deepen her practice.
Karen Hearn, Yoga Instructor
Karen began studying yoga in 2014 and was immediately drawn to Iyengar yoga and its practice of meditation in action. She has her RYT 200 certification through Yoga Alliance, and is currently studying to become a certified Iyengar teacher. She brings her enthusiasm for yoga to each class and strives for a clear and precise teaching style to help her students achieve their fullest potential.
Mequasah Simpson, Yoga Instructor
Mequasah is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga teacher. She constantly takes workshops and extended Teaching classes to continue learning and honing her skill. She believes breath work, mantra and asana are all equally important in yoga and life, thus integral to each of her classes and private sessions. She became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer in 2002 and owned and operated her own Functions Fitness Training business for years before becoming a stay at home mother. With her strong anatomy background as well as having had several personal injuries she is very tuned into her yogi’s physical roadblocks as well as their strengths. She believes in creating a safe and exciting space for practitioners to find their own breath and movement. She also has her Certification for Aerial Yoga.
Kira Davis, Pilates Instructor
Kira grew up in Eugene, Oregon and has always been a mover.
Starting with gymnastics, figure skating & ice hockey she branched out into hip hop, jazz and African dancing throughout college. Continuing on to practice yoga, circus arts, juggling and fire dancing. Kira has been touring internationally for the past 10 years performing with prop manipulators and flow artist all over the world. After injuring her back, she was drawn to pilates as a tool for pain management and strengthening. She has been absolutely transformed by this modality of movement. She has been teaching movement arts since 2007 and pilates since 2015. She is fully certified through the BASI International pilates training program.
Whitney Roe, Barre Instructor
Whitney grew up loving fitness and even went to college to study sports science. After having kids she decided to make fitness her career. Teaching has been a fun and rewarding way for her to stay healthy, release stress and connect with others. She loves seeing a room of people all come together, work hard, and walk away feeling accomplished. Her motto is fitness should be fun, you just have to find the right style of exercise that works for you. Endorphins are for real!
