Community Service

At Stafford Hills, we strongly encourage all our management, coaches and associates to generously donate their time and efforts to worthwhile community nonprofit organizations. The Club also dedicates a significant amount of time and resources to support such community organizations. Our support of some of these organizations is described below.

American Heart Association

Cardiovascular diseases and stroke are the #1 cause of death in Oregon. Stafford Hills shares the goal with the American Heart Association to build healthier lives free of such diseases and stroke through community awareness, better healthcare, enhanced education and expanded research. The Club supports numerous heart-awareness activities in February, National Heart Month, including Go Red for Women and the increased placement of AED devices in businesses and public places.

Special Olympics Oregon

Special Olympics has become the largest global public health organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual disabilities. The Club and Therapeutic Associates participate in FUNfitness, a program developed by Special Olympics in partnership with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). FUNfitness is led by volunteer physical therapists assisted by physical therapy students and is designed to assess and improve physical strength, flexibility, and balance.

Stafford Hills Foundation

Stafford Hills Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to providing opportunities for outstanding high school and college students to participate in internship experiences for hands-on learning entrepreneurship, business and recreational management. Each year the Foundation sponsors a competition among applicants who compete for internship and scholarship grants for higher education. The Foundation is also establishing research projects focused on childhood obesity and improving youth exercise and diet regimens, as well as cardio screening and services for student athletes.

Tualatin Chamber of Commerce

As a member of the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce, Stafford Hills supports this valuable community organization through participation in local community events, luncheons and efforts to increase patronage for local businesses and nonprofits. Stafford Hills believes that the backbone of a strong national economy is strong and vibrant small businesses that work together to provide quality jobs and opportunities to live, work and play in our own community.

Rotary International

Rotary’s main objective is service – in the community, in the workplace, and around the globe. The 1.2 million Rotarians who make up more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in nearly every country in the world share a dedication to the ideal of Service Above Self. Stafford Hills supports the efforts of Rotary International and the local Rotary Club of Lake Oswego by donating resources toward that Rotary Club’s annual Lobster Feed & Charity Auction held each spring to raise funds for local and international charities.

U.S. Tennis Association

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the recognized leader in promoting and developing the sport’s growth on every level in the United States, from local communities to the crown jewel of the professional game, the US Open. As a member of the USTA, the Club supports numerous programs to grow the sport of tennis including “10 and Under Tennis” that provides a short-court player-friendly learning environment for youngsters to junior development tennis and adult tennis leagues aimed at recreational and competitive league play for adults of all ages and abilities.

City League Tennis of Greater Portland

Stafford Hills is an active supporter of City League Tennis and sponsors a number of competitive women’s teams. City League Tennis is an exciting organization that brings women together for food, fun, socializing, and competition for their tennis game! City League teams are formed at each of the participating tennis facilities with teams at every level of ability. All matches are played indoors either on Tuesday or Wednesday during the day. Match play begins in September, concluding in May with awards and prizes for winning teams.

Audubon Society of Portland

Founded in 1902, the Audubon Society of Portland is dedicated to building a region where people and wildlife can flourish together. Stafford Hills supports the efforts of the Audubon Society of Portland by substantially expanding the adjacent natural wetlands and waterfowl habitat to encourage vegetative and environmental support for local and migratory bird populations. The Club promotes education of environmental awareness and the principals of living and working in harmony with nature and supporting natural habitats for bird populations.

Wounded Warriors Project

Stafford Hills Club supports our men and women in uniform who sacrifice so much to protect the freedoms and liberties that we cherish. We support the Wounded Warriors Project (www.supportwwp.org) and encourage all our members, associates and management to express gratitude and support to our military and their families for the enormous contributions they have made and continue to make to protect our nation and our people.
